While starting off with a fitness regime to lose weight, you have a lot of enthusiasm to make something worthwhile happen. However, for around 95% percent of the people who initiate such a thing, this enthusiasm dies like a candle burning out gradually. It is therefore very important to keep that flame burning within you so that you can stick to your decision and see the healthy and slimmer you in no time.

Motivation is a very important factor when it comes to following a strict regime of fitness. This routine or a regulated life would often consist of a limited intake of chosen foods. Also, along with it is the need to work out and exercise so that the extra kilograms are shed easily. Motivation is very important in this plan to lose weight to make sure that you not stop midway and falter at your own expectations and desires to look good and be healthy. Following are ten ways which can help you remain motivated while you shed that extra flab:

1.    Talk to yourself as to why you want to lose weight
No motivation is stronger than self-motivation. If the reason for your weight loss is someone else’s opinion, then it is sure to fade away as some time passes. It is better that you look for a reason to lose weight within yourself and you are sure to get an answer. Great looks and a healthy body are a great motivation. So why not put in efforts to look well-shaped and tones and not work out for what someone else thinks! Enjoy the good health that you can achieve through weight loss.

2.    Work out in a systematic manner
It often happens that you start working out for hours on end on the very first day and this leads to your getting bored of it very soon. Also, it can lead to tearing apart of the tissues due to extra strain on them suddenly. Leaving aside the health problems that can be created; this is not suggested as it can cause more binging on food. Start at a lower level and gradually increase your work out as the day’s progress. Our body takes time to adjust itself to changes so you need to introduce those changes carefully and gradually.

3.    Consult a fitness expert
It is not always required to spend a lot with a fitness instructor to lose weight. However, it would not hurt to pay him a visit once in a while. Get suggestions about the exercises that would suit your body type and the aim that you want to achieve. Also, it is very important to learn the techniques to exercise so that no injuries or muscle strains are caused and you do not overstrain yourself.

4.    Make short term and long term goals for yourself
While making your aims, decide goals which are realistic and achievable. For example, make aims for weeks like shedding 3 kilos in 2 weeks etc. Make long term goals too, like shedding 15 kilos in a year or fitting into your old pair of denims again. Fulfilment of smaller aims gives motivation for the bigger goals when you refer to them later on.

5.    Chart your workout and progress
It is always suggested that you keep a journal of what all you have taken up and achieved so far. The type of workout that you do, the duration that you a lot to each exercise, the diet intake that you have, etc should all be maintained for the record and more importantly for future reference. Also, try to click pictures and put them alongside so that you get motivated by them later and can see your progress report.

6.    Reward yourself on accomplishment of small aims
As a reward for yourself, plan something out of the ordinary when you achieve even those small aims that you had set for yourself. However, make sure the reward is strictly a non-food material. Get a new pair of shoes or some new fitness equipment as a reward for accomplishment of a target of 3 months. It will also help you continue the regime that you are following closely.

7.    Get a work out partner
If you find it difficult to work out alone, then your work out sessions may be short-lived. In such a situation, ask a friend or sibling to support you in your workout sessions. You can try a variety of exercises and work outs and it is going to be real fun too!

8.    Hang on to a hobby while you work out
Music and exercise are a great combination. So if you have a passion for music, then the other part is not going to be difficult at all for you. Other hobbies like watching television or reading books can also be combined with workouts. Taped books can be heard while you workout and it surely is a great combination.

9.    Join an online community of weight watchers
It is a great motivation to discuss your efforts with people who are doing the same. If you find no one to discuss your progress at home, then join online forums and communities where you can discuss through blogs the progress you have made. Also, you can get various suggestions to make your work out more effective.

10.    Do not stay away from workout for long
If you are required to miss your workout schedules due to any important reason, make sure you get back in a day. This is important so as to keep the momentum of the workouts going. Once you start thinking of reasons to stay away from workouts, then probably you are going to find it difficult to come back to. Also, try to incorporate the regime of exercising into the weekends too. Make it a part of everyday routine and you will see the effect becoming visible very soon.

Starting the weight loss regime is not very difficult in itself but continuing it and achieving long term results is. For getting the desired outcome, you have to stick to the routine and use these tips to always remain motivated. It is this motivation which will help you stick to the regime and you will then get the desired results.

All ten of your points are right on. It’s so easy to jump into exercising and keep it up for a few days, maybe even a few weeks. The key, and the hardest part of all is to maintain a healthy diet and continue to stay motivated to exercise. This tips will definitely help stay on track.

I especially like to do #5 and take progress pictures of my body. I can look back after being in the gym for a year and see major differences and that helps keep me motivated.
